Bowtie #14

I must have completely forgotten what I had already made by the time I published the post about Bowtie #12 and said that I wish I had made more food-themed ties. Granted, this first side isn't explicitly food related, but it 100% evokes Fruit Stripe gum.

I must have some unstated fascination with or preference for fruit-themed food. Froot Loops, Fruity Pebbles, Fruit Stripe gum, Fruit by the Foot. All good in my book.

And now for the more explicit food. Mickey eggs. Over easy, I hope, or they are not going on my chicken and waffles. This is one of the few Mickey Mouse fabrics I found that looks good in bowtie scale, and it's fun and unexpected to boot!

Quick sidebar about chicken and waffles. The best and most consistent I ever had was at a local lunch counter that went out of business a few years ago, and while I can find this dish more and more often in this area, no one ever gets the whole thing exactly right. They may nail the waffle and the chicken (both always boneless for me), but then they add something like a cinnamon cashew butter or lilac jam. Both are fine on their own or other dishes, but when I get chicken and waffles, I want thick slices of bacon cooked to near-char levels, a couple of thick waffles that cover the plate, a large and well-breaded slab of chicken breast, and one or two over-easy eggs on top so I can break the yolk into the maple syrup and butter to make a creamy sauce.

But yes, Mickey egg bowtie will be a brunch staple after I finish out the year. Maybe I can design my own fabric print with the Mickey eggs on a plate of Mickey chicken and waffles. I wonder how expensive and difficult it would be to actually do that. Stay tuned, maybe before the end of the year I will make a tie from fabric I designed.

I wore these sides on February 23rd and 24th.
