Bowtie #10

We've hit the double digits and the second week of the second month of the year.

I used to be obsessed with elephants. When I was growing up, I could do live fact checking of the tour guide at the zoo. I could tell you everything about how African elephants differed from Asian elephants and how far back you had to go until you found them a common ancestor. My favorite ancient elephant was the shovel tusk.

They are kind and friendly enough animals, they have experienced trouble as a species, but they have a strong family bond and take good care of each other. They are also one of those totally unique animals, at least for the time we currently live in. I envy people who lived during the time of mammoths.

So when I saw this fabric and checked the scale of the elephant it was a guarantee I'd pick it up. However, the design itself isn't the best. There is more room in my collection for other elephant fabrics, so I will keep on the lookout for good candidates.

Near the elephant fabric I found this orange print of frogs on leaves. Reminds me a bit of the bees on the hive from a few posts ago. It isn't perfectly complementary to the other side of the bowtie, but the theme is sufficient in this case, and the green does carry a bit.

I try, whenever I am not just pairing two different colorways of the same fabric, to pair the prints/designs to be either aesthetically complimentary or different enough so as to be a good all-rounder when I pack for a trip. The orange leaves probably make this tie fall in the second category, but I might still wear either side with the same shirt, if the shirt was just right.

I wore these sides on February 9th and 10th, and I think the frogs might have come first, even if elephants are my preferred animal to this day. .
