Bowtie #75
D&D Theme Week Tie #1
Dragon scales!
Or, if this were Pirate Theme Week Tie #4, mermaid scales!
Or, if this were Dolly Parton Storybook Theme Week Tie #6, fish scales from that book about the fish with the fancy shiny scales!
Or, if this were worn starting on October 1st and you imagined it to be worn in a costume for any of the above, then it would have been the first tie of my first ever theme month, October's Halloween Theme Month!
As for the actual design, it's pretty straightforwardly just scales. I bought the two variants of this fabric I could find and committed them to one tie. I have other feather-like scale fabric that I plan to make ties of for the rest of D&D Theme Week, but since we are running right into October with the end of this week, I will have to move over to making ties for that theme month.
This may be the last month of the year in which I do not have a theme running the length of it. October is Halloween and I may have enough fabric in-theme for a November theme (I will keep that theme a secret until we get there), but I am certain I will have enough fabric for a theme in December (I could keep that one a secret, but you can probably also guess what it would be).
As a last little aside here, I think I underexposed these shots. The fabric is a little brighter and more vibrant than these shots show. I had the camera dialed in for these tie photos, then I pulled it outside for some shots while my family when on a little trip, and when I returned to shoot this tie I did not remember to go back and set my settings to what they had been before.
I wore the sides of this tie on the 29th and 30th of September.
