Bowtie #7

Okay, how much fun did I have with this bowtie? It's like I salvaged what I could from a Lisa Frank Trapper Keeper that was being carried in a Vera Bradley bag.

I am digging the owl features, or is it more likely a bear? The beehive and nose make me think bear, but the feathery fluffiness screams owl. I am going to settle on owlbear, and consider this to be my first D&D bowtie, though I do have a fabric with polyhedral dice on it that I will turn into a bowtie some time around Halloween.

This is another tie that had me making decisions about how to orient the print. I settled on having the owlbear looking to the left and to the right, I think because I would have had to cut so far off the fabric to have it oriented horizontally. That is a problem I have frequently, and it influences my decision to buy either a half yard or a fat quarter of each fabric.

Now, this houndstooth side is almost too much. I think it is made by the same company that did the rainbow hexes fabric from a bowtie or two ago. It might even be the first time I've made the sides of a bowtie with different fabric from the same company, as I believe the owlbear was from the same line.

The rainbow colors are almost neon on this when you see it in person. I am fond of how "random" this ended up looking when it was cut down to the scale of a bowtie. Although, when you look at the thumbnail of the photo, it definitely looks more like an ordered pattern. It's fun to see how the two ends of a bowtie play off each other when you stack them on top of each other this way.

I wore these sides on January 27th and 28th.
