We will get to the theme week in a moment, after we talk about the beaver.

This is our first beaver on a tie. I used to live up a short hill from a creek, at the end of which was a small pond that was created by some beavers. I loved seeing them at work, and I would collect any sticks I thought they had cut apart but didn't need.

I also just learned that there are people in Holland who put a lot of effort into reintroducing the European beaver to its original habitat. I never really considered that beavers had ever lived anywhere other than the United States and Canada, but I suppose it make sense. I guess I am just not familiar with the historic iconography of beavers in those regions (Europe and Asia), and I assume they would have been written about or painted there.

Now, for the theme week. I have been planning to run a theme week of "children's storybook illustrations". I've been collecting a lot of fabric that would work with that theme, and some even seem to reference specific books I've read to my son.

The change I am going to make to that theme is the intent. It will still be based on storybook illustrations, but it will be in dedication to Dolly Parton. With her passing last week, and the timing of this butterfly bowtie, it just felt right. I considered waiting until the 25th of this month, which will be Dolly Parton day (9 to 5, or 9/25), but I can either do a special tie for that day, or do Dolly ties until then. If I do Dolly ties until then, I will have to take a break for Talk Like a Pirate day on the 19th.

I wore the sides of this bowtie on the 28th and 31st of August.
