Bowtie #66
Updated: Sep 10
This is a fun tie. The color of this red background is like a good crayon, nearly neon but with an odd finish, as though there is a thin layer of clear wax over it.
I imagine something with this fabric would be in either Phoebe or Rachel and Monica's apartments in the hit mid-90's TV show Friends. Maybe a throw pillow.
Are these daisies?
I was tempted to wear this one with the bees on the left side of the tie and the flowers on the right, which would have also made it relevant to wear around flag week.
Also, while we are on the topic, BEEEEEES!
The navy bee side would look good with a preppy suit. I may wear this with my seersucker, to make it slightly less waspy; but I don't think I can wear it in a way that makes it less preppy, which is fine. The red side really does the work of making this tie not too stuffy. Maybe I'll reinvest in some boat shoes and Ray Bans.
One of these days I am going to try to identify which species of bee is on each of my ties, assuming the people who designed the fabric are referencing a specific bee when they create the bees.
I wore the sides of this bowtie on the 25th and 27th of August.
