Bowtie #44

Speaking of Mary Blair (however long ago it was that we were talking about her), this surfer girl fabric isn't the spitting image of her work, but definitely looks like something she'd have had on her walls.

I also love how much fun they seem to be having in this one. Of course they are, they're surfing. I learned to ride longboard skateboards in my first undergraduate degree from a surfer from New Jersey. I can still hold my own on my board but I am not bombing down any hills these days.

This side should line the inside of a wicker basket full of fruit on the back rail of a tiki bar.

And then of course sundaes. I guess I asked myself, when making this tie, how much fun can one contain on just a dozen-or-so-square-inches of fabric? The answer: Plenty!

One of the best parts of the back side of this tie is that the sundaes are printed in up and down orientations, so all I had to do was try to catch at least one banana sundae in the diamond.

I wore these sides on June 16th and 24th.
