Bowtie #17

ROCKETS!!!!! I was so super happy to find this print in two colorways. Three, in fact. There was one with the light blue of the rocket as the night sky, but I landed on the darker blue and the red.
I used to work at a store called Uncle Fun, and we sold a lot of tin toys and toys from the 60's, so this tie would have been entirely in the aesthetic of the store, if I had made it 20 years ago. Also, we just went back to the moon, or around it, so it feels timely to be looking to the sky again.
I am including in this post a crop to show how I have to visualize what the tie will actually look like once I make it an tie it. The left side of the image shows how the bowtie is "cut off" where it folds back on itself and you end up with a straight vertical line, which is maybe not expected or obvious when you are looking at a diamond-tipped tie.
The takeaway here is that the side with the fold has a smaller contiguous area for the pattern. I once tried, on a different bowtie, to line up the print on the other end of the bowtie so it would be a continuation of the print potion on the fold, but it never quite came out right. Too much variability in how I tie it from day to day. I figure it just looks better if I make it obvious that I wasn't trying to line it up.
I wore these sides on March 10th and 12th..
