Bowtie #15

Putting food aside for a while, here is a print that the camera is not doing justice. I really should consider designing a better rig for standardizing these photos.
I did get a decent photo of the swatch that I used for the featured image on this post and it does a better job of showing the vibrancy of these dots.
I love that there is at the same time a sense of order and disorder to this print, and I also really like that it evokes the illustration style of a children's book from the 60's. It's just nice sometimes to wear polka dots that aren't actually polka dots, and having so many different colors really hammers that point home.
You can see that I considered the orientation options here. Not that there is an "up" or a "down" to the direction of these dots, but I wanted still to be able to make them either wide or tall.
I tried to time the hearts side of this bowtie to Valentine's day but I was still making these bowties the night before wearing them* and didn't have this ready in time. It all worked out in the end as I wouldn't have worn a bowtie on the weekend anyway.
These hearts carry the theme of polka dots that aren't polka dots. I wonder where that term actually comes from, "polka dot".
*Quick note: I don't start cutting fabric for a bowtie the night before it's worn. I cut a bunch of fabric in one day on the weekend while my son naps. Basically as much as I can cut before he wakes up. I will do a post about my process, especially as it evolves, but all I do the night before a bowtie is work is final stitching, ironing, and attach the hardware.
I wore these sides on March 2nd and 3rd..
